Rajganj, 04th November: A lottery ticket seller’s bag containing around ₹1.5 lakh in cash was allegedly stolen at Ambari market in Rajganj on Tuesday night. The incident has caused a stir in the area.
According to reports, Sujit Sarkar, a lottery ticket seller at Ambari market, was preparing to return home after completing his day’s business. He had kept the day’s sales proceeds and money reserved for lottery prize payouts in a bag placed on his bicycle.
Sujit stated that an unidentified person suddenly approached him and showed him a photograph on a mobile phone, asking whether he recognised the person in it. While Sujit’s attention was diverted towards the phone, the accused allegedly snatched the bag from his bicycle and fled the scene.
Before Sujit could react, the individual had disappeared. His brother, Sukumar Sarkar, said the stolen bag contained around ₹1.5 lakh, including the day’s earnings and money meant for lottery prize payments.
Following the incident, an inquiry was conducted among nearby shopkeepers, and the Bhorer Alo police station was informed. Police personnel soon reached the spot and have launched an investigation into the theft.
