Siliguri, 03rd November: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a ‘Save Democracy’ mega rally in Siliguri on Tuesday, with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari taking part in the procession. Union MoS Sukanta Majumdar, along with several BJP leaders, ministers, MPs and MLAs, was also present.
The rally started from Baghajatin Park and proceeded to Air View More. Following the procession, addressing a public meeting, Suvendu Adhikari launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress, Left parties and the opposition alliance.
Taking a dig at the efforts of opposition parties to unite in Delhi, Adhikari alleged that politically defeated forces were coming together to create instability in the country.
The Chief Minister also expressed confidence ahead of the upcoming municipal elections. He claimed that the BJP would perform well in Kolkata, Howrah and Siliguri.
Adhikari also made several promises regarding the development of healthcare and education infrastructure in North Bengal.
Ahead of the upcoming Diwali and Chhath Puja celebrations, the Chief Minister urged the Hindu Jagaran Manch to remain alert. He called on the organisation to keep watch at Chhath ghats to prevent any untoward incidents and cooperate with the administration.
