Awareness rally held by Siliguri Metropolitan Police on International Anti-Drug Day

Siliguri, 26th June: In a commendable effort to maintain a drug-free environment in Siliguri, the Siliguri Metropolitan Police has launched the ‘Say No to Drugs’ campaign. Significantly, the police have seized drugs worth crores of rupees and have undertaken proactive measures to curb drug abuse in society also through awareness initiatives.


According to reports, on the occasion of International Anti-Drug Day, all police stations under the Siliguri Metropolitan Police collaborated to conduct an awareness rally. The police officers from Matigara, Pradhan Nagar, Bhakti Nagar, Siliguri, NJP, and Bagdogra police stations participated actively in this initiative under the leadership and guidance of Siliguri Police Commissioner C Sudhakar. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from school children and voluntary organizations, who spread awareness through placards.

In this regard, Commissioner C Sudhakar highlighted the ongoing efforts of the police in combating drug-related issues. He further emphasized the importance of awareness among schools and college students on International Anti-Drug Day.


He expressed concern over the increasing vulnerability of school and college students to drug abuse and announced a new initiative by the Siliguri Metropolitan Police. This initiative will involve organizing police camps in schools and colleges to spread awareness and prevent drug abuse.
