Awareness Program on ‘Road Safety’ held at Nilnalini Vidyamandir High School, Siliguri

Siliguri, 06th January: A road safety awareness program and rally were conducted at Nilnalini Vidyamandir High School in Siliguri, emphasizing the importance of traffic rules among school students.


The event began with an awareness rally starting from Kanchenjungha Stadium on Monday. Students from seven schools participated in the rally, which passed through various parts of the city before culminating at Nilnalini Vidyamandir High School. Following the rally, an awareness session was held at the school.

The program was attended by Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb, District Magistrate Preeti Goyal, DCP (Traffic) Biswa Chand Thakur, and other officials. A PowerPoint presentation on road safety was delivered to educate the students on the importance of adhering to traffic regulations.


Mayor Gautam Deb announced that similar programs would be organized in other schools. He emphasized the need for students to understand and follow traffic rules as they grow older and begin driving.

District Magistrate Preeti Goyal highlighted that the program targeted students aged 16 to 18 to instill safe driving habits. She further assured that steps would be taken to prevent reckless driving by school buses.
