Attack on BJP Chief at Diamond Harbour: 07 people arrested

West Bengal Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay wrote to Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on the attack on the convoy of BJP Chief at Diamond Harbour on Thursday. Bandyopadhyay stated that DIG (Police) of the range was stationed in the area to supervise arrangements. In addition to this, 4 Additional SPs, 8 DSPs, 14 Inspectors, 70 SIs/ASIs, 40 RAF personnel, 259 constables, 350 members of auxiliary forces were deployed on the route, at Diamond Harbour venue. 


It is to recall, the vehicles of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders were attacked by protestors in South 24 Paraganas, on Thursday. Reportedly, the stones were pelted at the vehicle of party national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya in Diamond Harbour while he was on his way to South 24 Paraganas. A cold-drink bottle was allegedly thrown on the car of Dilip Ghosh, president of BJP’s West Bengal Unit.

In his letter, Ghosh alleged that the “police allowed a mob of around 200 people, carrying bamboo sticks, to raise slogans, demonstrate and show black flags to Nadda.”


The protestors also attempted to block the road from where BJP President JP Nadda’s convoy was passing. Bricks were also hurled at the vehicle of BJP leader Deepanjan Guha at Diamond Harbour.

According to Alapan Bandyopadhyay, 03 cases have already been registered in this connection, while 02 of them are specifically for vandalism. 07 people arrested in these 02 cases.
