Siliguri, 16th July: The Pradhan Nagar police station’s undercover team successfully busted an ATM robbery gang, arresting three miscreants. The accused are Mainuddin Sheikh (26) and Mijanur Mia (28) from Cooch Behar, and Baiju Sahni (20) from Ratan Lal Basti in Siliguri.

According to police sources, on Monday night, the gang had planned to rob several ATMs in the Salbari area. Acting on information from secret sources, the police conducted an operation and apprehended the three accused red-handed. The police recovered a firearm, live ammunition, and several sharp weapons from them.

This arrest follows a series of ATM robberies in areas under the Siliguri Metropolitan Police, where miscreants had stolen lakhs of rupees. About 15 days ago, this gang had committed an ATM robbery and managed to escape, increasing pressure on the police to apprehend them.

After a continuous campaign, the police successfully dismantled the gang and arrested three of its members. On Tuesday, the accused were presented in Siliguri court, where the police sought their remand. The search for the remaining gang members is currently underway.
