Assam’s minor girl rescued from red-light area in Siliguri

Siliguri, 20th January: The Police rescued a minor girl of Assam from Siliguri’s red-light area, on Tuesday night.


According to police sources, a minor went missing from Tatikata village in Morigaon district of Assam, a few days ago. Following this, on January 19, the family of the minor lodged a missing complaint at the Morigaon police station. The police launched investigations and learned that the minor was sold for 50 thousand rupees in Siliguri’s red-light area.

The Morigaon police and the Khalpara outpost police then conducted a joint operation and rescued the minor last night.


The Khalpara outpost police sent the girl to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) home in Jalpaiguri today. The girl will be taken to Assam after completing all the legal procedures in Jalpaiguri. The police have started an investigation into the whole incident.

In this regard, the in-charge of Morigaon police station said that the victim’s family lodged a complaint in this regard on January 19. The minor was rescued with the help of Khalpara outpost police last night.
