Former Assam Police DIG PK Dutta, the main accused in the SI recruitment scam, has been arrested in Nepal in connection to the Assam SI exam paper leak scandal.
According to sources, a special team of Police and CID arrested Dutta. He is being brought to Assam and could reach Guwahati by tonight.
P.K Dutta who is said to be the main mastermind in the leakage of the question paper was absconding since September 20, the day when the Assam government canceled a written exam to recruit 597 sub-inspectors to the police force.
The Assam Police Sub Inspector recruitment examination had to be canceled after the alleged leak of the question paper on social media.
After huge public objections, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal ordered a speedy investigation as a result of which PK Dutta has been arrested in Nepal.
Another main accused Former BJP leader Diban Deka surrendered before the Police and is being interrogated at the Assam Police SB Branch in Guwahati.
