Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, shared on Tuesday that about 133 individuals from West Bengal have come to Assam for refuge due to violence in the state, caused by the panchayat election. He stated that the state has made arrangements for accommodation, food, and medical facilities for those seeking shelter. Currently, these individuals are residing in a relief camp.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister added that people from West Bengal are highly valued and respected as neighbours by Assam. During the previous West Bengal assembly election, they were rendered similar assistance. He assured that during times of crisis, Assam can be counted on for any humanitarian assistance.
