Siliguri, 18th November: Ashok Bhattacharya, chairman of the BoA at Siliguri Municipal Corporation, inaugurated the newly constructed bridge over Panchnai River, on Wednesday. BoA member Nurul Islam, Rambhajan Mahato, Shankar Ghosh, Kamal Agarwal, Mukul Sengupta, and many others were present during the programme.
Reportedly, the Panchanai river flows through boundaries of Ward No. 01 and 47 under the SMC. The students of the area face problems due to the rising river water during monsoons. Hence, SMC has come forward to provide a permanent solution in this regard.
A new iron bridge was built with the help of MP Development Fund. Around 1 crore 5 lakh rupees have been spent on its construction.
Bhattacharya said that despite facing financial deprivation, SMC built the iron bridge considering the demands of the locals. He further assured of carrying out more development works in the coming days.
