Siliguri, 28th October: Ratna Bhattacharya, wife of CPIM leader and former mayor of Siliguri Ashok Bhattacharya, passed away on Wednesday. The body was brought to their residence in Siliguri Subhash Pally from Kolkata on Thursday morning. Following which, the funeral was held at Kiran Chandra Burning Ghat.
Ashok Bhattacharya broke down into tears after reaching home today. SMC administrator Goutam Deb, district Trinamool president Papia Ghosh and leaders of various parties arrived at his residence to pay their last respects to Ratna Bhattacharya. On the other hand, BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh came to Siliguri with Bhattacharya from Kolkata.
Ashok Bhattacharya said “My life partner for the past 41 years passed away. She was a very humble person and managed her job and family all by herself.”
