Siliguri, 08th February: The Ashighar Sub Traffic Guard under the Siliguri Metropolitan Police organised the Friendship Cup Volleyball Tournament at Ghogomali Ground on Sunday. The initiative aimed to promote mutual harmony, friendship, and stronger bonding between the police and the public through sports.
The event was attended by ACP Tridib Sarkar, ACP Anirban Majumdar, Officer-in-Charge of Ashighar Sub Traffic Guard Tanay Sarkar, along with several other police officials.
Speaking on the occasion, ACP Anirban Majumdar said that a total of eight teams are participating in the tournament. Of these, seven teams represent different areas of the city, while one team is from the police department.
He added that the tournament has been organised under the “Safe Drive, Safe Life” campaign to spread awareness among the public about road safety and responsible driving.
Senior police officials stated that such sporting events play an important role in strengthening coordination with society and spreading public awareness through positive engagement.
