ASHA workers submit memorandum in Rajganj pressing multiple demands

Rajganj, 15th January: ASHA workers submitted a memorandum in Rajganj on Thursday, pressing multiple demands related to wages, recognition, and pending dues. The programme was organised under the banner of the West Bengal ASHA Workers’ Union.


More than 200 women ASHA workers from various gram panchayats under the Rajganj block took part in the programme and submitted an eight-point charter of demands to the authorities.

Speaking on the issue, ASHA workers said their key demands include immediate recognition of ASHA workers as health workers, a fixed monthly salary of Rs 15,000, payment of incentives along with clearance of all pending dues, and compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the families of ASHA workers who die while on duty.


The workers stated that they are currently observing a work stoppage and warned that if their demands are not met immediately, they will intensify their agitation and launch a larger movement in the coming days.
