Siliguri, 24th April: Arun Haldar, Vice-Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, once again took a jibe at the state government regarding the Kaliyaganj incident.
Before departing for Delhi today, he addressed the media at the Bagdogra Airport. The Vice-Chairman strongly condemned the incident in Kaliyaganj of Uttar Dinajpur, where a minor girl was raped and murdered. “I am surprised that despite coming all the way from Delhi, no high official from the state administration arrived,” Haldar stated. Reportedly, the IO officer of the case, IGP, SP, and DM, who were asked to be present, did not show up.
Haldar asserted that the minor was raped after careful planning and premeditation. He added that he will request the commission to suspend the IC of Kaliaganj and SP of Uttar Dinajpur for a fair investigation of the incident.
