Siliguri, 17th November: A group of thieves broke into the house of an army personnel in Bakravita near NJP late on Sunday night and escaped with gold jewellery and around ₹80,000 in cash.
According to reports, army personnel Mukesh Kumar Jha was at home with his parents when the incident occurred. The thieves allegedly scaled the boundary wall and entered the house while the family was asleep. They fled with the valuables before anyone noticed.
On Monday morning, a complaint was lodged at NJP Police Station. Mukesh Kumar Jha and his mother said they did not sense anything during the night and suspect that the miscreants may have used some intoxicant spray before committing the crime.
