Siliguri, 20th May: During a press conference on Thursday, former mayor Ashok Bhattacharya alleged that the city’s new administrators have not been appointed following the norms.
Ashok Bhattacharya said that in order to maintain proper municipal services in Siliguri, administrators have been appointed in Siliguri Municipal corporation like any other municipality in the state. However, the process has been done without following the rules. He also said that although the BoA was formed to help the people in the fight against COVID-19, the board members are currently engaged in the beautification work of the city.
Bhattacharya further claimed that the CPIM will return to power in the state after winning Siliguri in the next corporation election.
On the other hand, city’s administrator Goutam Deb, in response to Bhattacharya’s remarks, said that the BoA need seven months to show actual development in the city. “Apart from dealing with COVID, all municipal services will function properly under BoA’s leadership. Both the tasks will be given priority collectively,” he added.
