Siliguri, 18th August: In a tragic event at Bengal Safari Park, yet another Royal Bengal tiger cub lost its life. It has been reported that just a few days prior, the white tigress named Kika had given birth to two cubs within the park. Sadly, one cub did not survive the birth process, while the other cub’s life was cut short within a few days post-birth. The park’s management has chosen not to disclose further details regarding these incidents. State Forest Minister Jyotipriya Mallick, however, addressed the media to confirm the unfortunate demise of one of the cubs.
According to sources within the park, the cub faced difficulties in consuming nourishment over several days, eventually leading to its untimely passing. In the month of July, Kika had given birth to a pair of cubs—tragically, one met its fate at birth, and the other was kept under close surveillance but succumbed after a short span of time. This recent cub’s demise has sparked heightened concerns among the park officials. Officials from the forest department and veterinary practitioners have highlighted the critical importance of the first few months following the birth of tiger cubs. During this period, the cubs possess inherently low immunity and physical fragility, rendering them susceptible to tragic outcomes.
