Kurseong, 17th March: The foundation stone for the construction of Tindharia Higher secondary school was laid by Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) Chairman Anit Thapa, today, in the presence of locals from and around Tindharia. The school caters to the educational need of around 300 children from 5 villages. Currently, the school is operated in a small building situated at Mithai Dara. The school, which was established in 1947, was shifted to Mithai Dara in 2005. This reconstruction of the school building is being conducted at the cost of 2.43 crore rupees.
Addressing the gathering, the GTA Chairman stated, that as this was an educational programme, which is why he could not cancel this event amidst the coronavirus scare. He also stated that the Gorkha identity crisis can be resolved through education. He further urged people to monitor the use of public property. Thapa further stated that education can never be politicized and that a united, empowered and developed Tindharia was his dream.
