Siliguri, 16th February: The Bengal Safari Park authorities have taken new steps to strengthen human relations with animals and birds.
The Bengal Safari Authority initiated adoption facilities in July last year. Through this, people can submit adoption forms and adopt any animal or bird for one month as well as one year.
Kolkata resident Abhishek Bhattacharya has already adopted a leopard cat for one year. Dr. PD Bhutia of Siliguri has adopted Black Bear for a year. Sonika Sharma, a resident of Siliguri, adopted Royal Bengal Tiger Shila’s cub Kika for one year on February 14. So far, around 46 animals and birds have been adopted.
In this regard, DFO DS Sherpa of Bengal Safari Park said that this new initiative has been taken to improve human relations with animals and birds. A specific amount has also been fixed for adoption. Those who adopt are given certificates and identification cards on behalf of park authorities. They will also receive the facility to visit Bengal Safari Park free of cost with that card.
