Siliguri, 15th June: Sensational prevailed in the Shantinagar area of Dabgram No. 2 circle, adjacent to Siliguri, as two thieves were caught red-handed stealing gas cylinders. According to the reports, the incident occurred when the gas cylinder driver parked the vehicle to make a delivery at a nearby multi-storey building. Seizing the opportunity, two youths swiftly snatched a cylinder and loaded it onto a toto. However, the driver noticed the theft and immediately pursued the toto. With the assistance of local residents, both thieves were apprehended near Amtala More.
Incensed by the audacity of the thieves, the driver and nearby residents wasted no time in collectively confronting the culprits and thrashing them. The authorities at the Ashighar Out Post were promptly informed. Police quickly arrived at the scene and took both suspects into custody. Residents noted that similar incidents have occurred in the area previously, raising concerns about the prevailing security situation. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident to determine any potential links to previous thefts.
