Siliguri, 08th October: Tension gripped Siliguri’s Gandhi More on Tuesday as a mob caught a chain snatcher red-handed and subjected him to a severe beating. The accused miscreant was later taken into custody by the Bhakti Nagar police.
Reportedly, a woman was walking from Gandhi More when two men on a two-wheeler without a number-plate, snatched her gold chain and attempted to flee. The woman’s cries for help alerted locals who immediately chased after the culprits. One of the miscreants managed to escape while the other was caught and beaten by the angry mob.
Meanwhile, the police arrived at the scene promptly and rescued the accused from the mob’s outrage. The injured man was then taken to a nearby hospital. The police have launched an investigation into the matter and are currently searching for the second accused.
