Amrit Gosai murder case update: Accused sent to 10 days police remand in Siliguri

Siliguri, 07th June: A tragic incident surfaced from Siliguri’s Debidanga where a man was shot dead. Notably, both the accused, Arun Mahali, and the deceased, Amrit Gosai, were in love with the same woman in the said area leading to a rift between the two. In this regard, Arun was arrested by the police.


Following the incident, a tense atmosphere prevailed in the area and the situation was monitored and controlled by a large contingent of police. Meanwhile, new information surfaced in this case.

According to reports, Arun and Amrit were good friends who lived in the same area. Subsequently, a woman started residing in the Quarter Line area of Debidanga, eight months ago. Following this, both Arun and Amrit fell in love with her, due to which, their friendship transformed into enmity.


Reportedly, on several occasions, Arun advised Amrit to stay away from her and kept an eye on him for the past week. Meanwhile, late on Monday night, Arun noticed Amrit speaking over the phone on a school ground. Out of doubt, he allegedly shot him in the head, resulting in his death.

Meanwhile, police arrested Arun on charges of murder. Following this he was produced before the Siliguri court and has been taken on 10 days remand for interrogation.

Currently, police are engaged in further investigation to ascertain the source of the gun used in the incident.
