Rajganj, 08th February: The forest personnel of Ambari Range have arrested an individual with pangolin skin and scales. However, the identity of the arrested accused has not been disclosed for further investigation.
As per reports, during a raid led by Ranger Alamgir Haque of Ambari Range, an 80 cm length pangolin skin and scales were recovered from the accused. In this regard, the forest department sources revealed that the individual was apprehended from the Oodlabari area on Wednesday evening, by posing as a buyer. In addition, a two-wheeler used in smuggling has also been seized.
During the interrogation, the accused claimed that the animal was killed in the forest. Subsequently, after consuming the meat, they attempted to smuggle the skin and scales to Nepal via Siliguri. On Thursday, the accused has been produced before the Jalpaiguri District Court.
