Ambari Police provides food items to laborers stranded in Rajganj

Rajganj, 27th March: 17 laborers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have been stranded in Rajganj due to the nation-wide lockdown. The laborers have taken shelter at a residence in Bandhunagar.


Vaiju Yadav, from the Sharamik Dal, stated that they had arrived at Rajganj in January 2020. They used to make wooden beds and sell them in the villages. However, due to the lockdown announced by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, they were not able to return home. They have also spent their money in the past few days and have no savings left.

The Ambari Police were informed about the situation, on Thursday. Upon receiving the news, the police provided them with 25kgs of rice and 10kgs of flour. The BDO of Rajganj also visited the laborers, on Friday. The laborers have requested the administration to make arrangements for them to return home.


Meanwhile, BDO NC Sherpa stated that the laborers are currently undergoing a health check-up in the Rajganj Rural Hospital. They cannot be sent home due to the lockdown. They will currently stay at a residence in Bandhunagar. The Ambari Police and the BDO Office will provide them with food items until the lockdown.
