Rajganj, 13th August: The Ambari outpost Police arrested four people from the Ambari area of Rajganj block on the charge of extorting money in the name of Lakshmi Bhandar scheme of the state government. The arrested accused have been identified as Bapi Dey Sarkar, Bappa Dey Sarkar, Shikha Dey Sarkar, and Biswajit Mohanto (Khokon). Police also confiscated computers and printers from their possession.
According to police sources, the government had taken an initiative to fill forms of the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme through the ‘Duare Sarkar’ programme. However, the accused individuals extorted money from people after downloading forms through online procedures. After the matter came to light, the four were arrested from the Ambari area.
The arrested individuals have been sent to Jalpaiguri district court today.
