Phansidewa, 03rd October: Tension gripped Phansidewa Rural Hospital following the death of a patient due to medical negligence. The deceased patient has been identified as Mosir Ali, a resident of Chathat in Phansidewa.
According to reports, on Monday, a youth was electrocuted and was immediately rushed to the Phansidewa Rural Hospital. Following this, the patient allegedly did not receive the required treatment immediately, which resulted in his death. After the incident, a tense situation prevailed at the hospital.
As per the family of the deceased, the young man was electrocuted while cutting a tree under a high-tension line. Immediately, he was brought to the hospital where the staff halted his entry. In this regard, Mosir’s father Mohammad Abdul stated that he could have been saved if he received on-time medical treatment.
Upon being alerted, Phansidewa police arrived at the scene and controlled the prevailing situation. Later, the body of the deceased was transported to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad Karmadhyaksha Ainul Haque also arrived at the spot and claimed negligence in the treatment. Upon being contacted over the phone, Phansidewa Block Health Officer Dr. Arunabh Das stated that no such complaint had been received.
