All government and government-aided offices and institutions will remain closed on September 01, as a mark of respect to Pranab Mukherjee. The state home department took to Twitter to make the announcement.

The tweet further added that though September 1 remains as Police Day, it will be observed on September 8.
If the funeral takes place on another day, then that day too shall be observed with similar solemn respect. While 1st September remains Police Day, the observance will be on 8th September.(2/2)

Meanwhile, the Central government has announced a 7-day state mourning following the death of Pranab Mukherjee. During the state mourning, from 31 August to 6 September, national flag will fly at half-mast on buildings across India and there will be no official entertainment, said Ministry of Home Affairs.
The former President of India breathed his last on Monday evening at the age of 84. His son Abhijit Mukherjee made the announcement on social media.
Pranab Mukherjee, a Congress veteran was being treated for lung infection at the Army Research and Referral hospital. He underwent critical brain surgery at the hospital to remove a clot after he suffered a fall at his Rajaji Marg residence on August 10. He was on ventilator support since then.
He had also tested positive for the coronavirus at the time of his admission followed by a respiratory infection.
