AIUTUC stages sit-in protest at Siliguri’s Hashmi Chowk against Union Budget

Siliguri, 05th February: The Union Budget for the financial year 2025-26, presented on February 01, sparked protests from the All India United Trade Union Centre (AIUTUC) at Hashmi Chowk. The members of the organization strongly opposed the budget.

On Wednesday, the Darjeeling District Secretary of AIUTUC, Partha Maitra, criticized the budget, calling it a strategy to deceive the poor. He argued that individuals with annual incomes up to Rs 12 lakh can easily afford to pay taxes. Maitra also claimed that the budget was designed to benefit states ruled by the BJP.

He further attacked the central government, claiming that the budget was not meant for the common people or farmers, but was instead a tactic to mislead the masses.
