Siliguri, 21st June: Several beedi workers have lost their jobs amid the ongoing pandemic and are living in a severe financial crisis.
In this context, members of AIUTUC, on Monday, staged a protest in front of a beedi company in Siliguri demanding to return jobs to the workers.
The workers alleged that they have been unemployed for about a month and a half. They demonstrated today with a demand to return them their jobs.
Joy Lodh, District Secretary of the organization, said, “We have informed the authorities about the matter. The authorities have assured that work will be given within the next week. However, if their demands are not met, they will start protesting again.”
