Siliguri, 27th December: An ailing elderly woman, who was found lying on the road near Venus More in Siliguri a few days ago, is set to be reunited with her family in Assam after completion of necessary legal procedures. The initiative is being taken by the Darjeeling District Legal Aid Forum.
According to sources, local residents noticed the elderly woman in a distressed condition and informed the Darjeeling District Legal Aid Forum. Members of the forum reached the spot and rescued her, arranging for her care and treatment.
At the time of rescue, the woman was physically unwell and unable to reveal her identity or address. After receiving medical treatment and care for several days, her health improved, and she began speaking in Assamese, eventually informing the authorities that her home is in Assam.
The process to send the elderly woman back to her home in Assam has already been initiated. She is currently being kept at a home facility until all formalities are completed.
