Naxalbari, 05th May: Members of the Darjeeling Branch of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) met with the family of the minor girl who was allegedly gang-raped in Kiran Chandra Tea Estate on April 20.
During their visit on Monday, AIDWA members also interacted with local villagers to discuss the broader issues surrounding the incident. District committee secretary Mani Thapa and other members were present.
Thapa stated that such incidents have been reported across the state and emphasized that the association will continue its fight for justice. She also confirmed that the accused will be produced in Siliguri court on May 8, and a protest with placards will be held on the same day.
Notably, three youths were arrested by Naxalbari police on the night of the incident following an immediate investigation.
