Siliguri, 27th July: Days after Sikkim reported delta variant cases, North Bengal Medical College and Hospital recorded the delta variant in the bodies of five patients. Furthermore, the UK variant was also found in the body of 2 patients.
Superintendent of NBMCH Dr Sanjay Mallick said that so far delta variants have been found in the bodies of five people and the UK variant in the bodies of two people. Reportedly, the people in whom the variant was found are residents of Siliguri and adjoining areas.
According to medical sources, after neighbouring state Sikkim reported cases of the delta variant, samples of some patients from the VRDL laboratory of NBMCH were sent to Kolkata for testing. The reports returned on Monday night confirming delta variant in the body of 5 people and strain of UK variant in the body of two people.
