Adventure tourism suspended in the Hills due to heavy rains and safety concerns

Siliguri, 19th June: Tourists planning to visit the hills have been met with disappointing news, as adventure tourism activities have been brought to a halt. Effective from June 15, all forms of adventure sports, including paragliding and rafting, will no longer be available to visitors. This closure is expected to last for approximately three months, until September 15th.

Dawa Sherpa, the Chief Coordinator of the Adventure Tourism Department within the GTA Tourism Department, has confirmed this unfortunate development. Adventure sports, such as paragliding and rafting, have always been major attractions for tourists exploring the mountainous region. However, due to the onset of continuous rainfall and the subsequent considerable increase in the water level of the Teesta River, the safety of tourists has become a primary concern.
