Alipurduar, 22nd November: An adult leopard was successfully captured in a cage set up by the Forest Department in Section 1 of Mathura Tea Estate in Alipurduar district on Friday morning.
Reportedly, workers at the tea estate had been spotting the leopard in the garden over the past several days. Responding to these observations, the Chilapata Range of the Forest Department installed a cage in the area to capture the animal.
The leopard was finally trapped on Friday morning. Upon discovering the caged animal, the workers immediately informed the Forest Department. Forest workers promptly arrived at the site, rescued the leopard, and transported it for release into a deeper part of the forest.
According to the DFO of Jaldapara, the leopard underwent a physical examination, and after receiving necessary initial treatment, it was safely released into its natural habitat.
