Naxalbari, 01st October: In a proactive initiative to raise awareness on electrical safety and usage among traders of the Naxalbari Market, the administration has launched a campaign. The campaign was attended by the Naxalbari Gram Panchayat, Naxalbari Byabasayee Samiti, the Fire Department, and the Electricity Department on Tuesday.
Reportedly, the officials conducted an inspection of the various shops in the Naxalbari Market. The primary goal of the inspection was to ensure safety measures in the location. The officials inquired about the conditions of the electrical systems and the use of fire extinguishers.
In this regard, Upa Pradhan Biswajit Ghosh emphasized that the campaign aimed to enhance awareness among traders. He stated that strict guidelines were issued to prevent a recurrence of last year’s fire mishap.
Meanwhile, Tarun Kumar Basak, an official of the fire department stated that the campaign was mainly focused on significant improvements in the fire fighting measures.
This initiative was conducted in the wake of a devastating fire last year that destroyed 40 shops in Naxalbari Market. Additionally, a major fire incident recently occurred in Siliguri’s Bidhan Market, further highlighting the importance of safety protocols for traders.
