Phansidewa, 17th April: Members of the tribal community joined a massive protest and staged road blockades across the state in support of several demands and condemning the incident wheretribal women were forced to crawl and perform “Dandavat Parikrama” in Balurghat. Likewise, the members of Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan protested by blocking the National Highway at Phansidewa Bidhannagar.
Reportedly, the members of the organization took out a rally and blocked the national highway. Due to which, traffic movement came to a standstill on both sides of the road. Several passengers had to face trouble.
Meanwhile, a huge contingent of Darjeeling District Police reached the spot as soon as the news was received. Later, on the assurance of the administration, the protestors removed the road block and later handed over a memorandum to the Chief Minister.
