Rajganj, 26th March: The police have arrested a youth in connection to the mysterious recovery of a 25-year-old woman’s body from a pond near her house in Rajganj’s Nakugachh. The villagers protested by blocking the road and demanding the death sentence for the accused.
Rajganj police arrested Mominul Islam, accused of killing the woman on Saturday. It is to be noted, that about ten months ago, Naseema Khatoon, a resident of Sanyasikata, was engaged to Mominul Islam, a resident of Shobhaganj, Garalbari area of Jalpaiguri Kotwali police station. On Friday, Naseema’s body was recovered under mysterious circumstances from a pond near her house. After the incident, the family members of the deceased lodged a complaint at the police station.
Based on the complaint, the police involved in the investigation arrested Mominul for the murder of Naseema. Demanding the death sentence to the accused, the local people protested today by blocking the Jotiyakali Gadra State Road. As soon as the news was received, the Rajganj police reached the spot and assured of all necessary action to be taken against the accused. After this, the local people removed the blockade. Local panchayat member Shaukat Ali demanded exemplary punishment against the accused. As per the sources, the accused has confessed to the murder. The accused has been produced in Jalpaiguri court today. The police are probing the entire matter.
