Siliguri, 31st July: A heartbreaking incident unfolded when a young man, Amit Sahni (18), lost his life under mysterious circumstances while on a picnic with friends at Gulma River. Initially considered an accident, the incident is now raising suspicions of a planned murder. Amit Sahni was a local resident of Ward No. 18 under the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).
According to the information, Amit and six of his friends arrived at Gulma for a picnic on Sunday, during which they consumed alcohol and decided to take a swim in the river. Tragedy struck when one of the friends, named Raj, began to drown, and in a heroic attempt to save his companion, Amit, who was also intoxicated, plunged into the water and tragically drowned. His friends immediately rushed him to the hospital, where he was declared dead. The police retrieved the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination.
However, as the incident unfolds, suspicions arise, and the deceased’s family members are now alleging foul play, considering it as a planned murder. Consequently, all six friends are currently under investigation for potential murder based on suspicion. Following the tragic event, Amit’s family, accompanied by his friends, visited the scene to inquire about the incident in detail.
While Amit’s friends claim that he drowned while attempting to save a friend, his father, Narayan Sahni, firmly believes that his son’s death was no accident. He alleged that the water level of Gulma River is at a safe level, making it unlikely for anyone to drown in it. He accused the six friends of conspiring to assassinate Amit by drowning him in the river. The autopsy report has been sent to the family members, and the police are conducting a thorough investigation to shed light on the truth behind the tragedy.
