‘Abir’ production for Holi underway in Champagach near Fulbari border

Fulbari, 06th March: With Holi approaching, workers at the ‘Abir’ (coloured powder) factory in Champagach near the Fulbari border are busy. However, production has significantly decreased this year due to lower demand.

Factory employee Jiban Mandal stated that ‘Abir’ has been produced in the area for the past twenty years using materials sourced from Bhutan. Previously, the coloured powder was sold in various regions, including Siliguri, Islampur, and Raiganj. This year, however, the reduced demand has led to limited production.

Earlier, 10-12 workers manufactured ‘Abir’ in three to four colours, but this year, only three employees are making pink and ochre varieties. The produced ‘Abir’ will be sold in the Siliguri market.
