Siliguri, 25th June: The abducted Siliguri businessman, Prabhakar Singh, also known as Deepak, has been safely rescued by the police late on Saturday. However, the alleged kidnappers are still at large.
According to reports, preliminary investigations conducted by the police indicate that the motive behind the abduction was monetary, as the culprits demanded a ransom of approximately 1 crore rupees for Prabhakar’s release. The family complied with the demand and arrived at the designated spot with the specified amount, while the police prepared to apprehend the criminals. However, upon sensing the presence of law enforcement, the kidnappers fled, abandoning Prabhakar. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), Shuvendra Kumar, confirmed over the phone that businessman Prabhakar Singh has been safely rescued.
Earlier on Saturday morning, Prabhakar was abducted at gunpoint from Champasari, located in Ward No. 46 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).
