Siliguri, 16th December: A special traffic awareness programme was organised on Tuesday by the Salugara Sub Traffic Guard under the Bhakti Nagar Traffic Guard of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police, with the aim of reducing road accidents and promoting adherence to traffic rules.
The primary objective of the programme was to spread awareness about traffic regulations, with special emphasis on the compulsory use of helmets by two-wheeler riders. As part of the initiative, DCP Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed distributed 60 helmets among children to instil road safety awareness from an early age.
Officials stated that the initiative seeks to spread the message of road safety to households through children, encouraging them not only to follow traffic rules themselves but also to motivate elder family members to do the same.
During the programme, children were educated on the importance of wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers and how strict adherence to traffic rules can help prevent accidents.
The event was attended by DCP Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed, Traffic ADCP Purnima Sherpa, ACP, OC of Bhaktinagar Traffic Guard Amartya Chakraborty, OC of Salugara Sub Traffic Guard Arindam Chatterjee, along with other police officers and personnel.
