Phansidewa, 19th March: Police from Bidhannagar Investigation Center, Ghoshpukur Outpost and Phansidewa Police Station have foiled buffalo smuggling in 3 separate incidents and arrested 3 individuals.
As per reports, on Tuesday night, the police from Bidhan Nagar Investigation Center in Phansidewa seized a container in front of Muraliganj Checkpost in Bidhan Nagar and searched it. During this, 28 buffaloes were rescued. Subsequently, the driver, identified as Amanul Haque, was arrested.
In another incident, the police from Ghoshpukur Outpost in Ghoshpukur area and the police from Phansidewa Police Station seized two containers in Goaltuli More and rescued 64 buffaloes.
Failing to show valid documents for the animals the drivers of the vehicle were arrested. The arrested accused are identified as Mohammad Javed, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, and Habibur Rahman, a resident of Dalkhola area.
According to police sources, the three arrested accused were presented in Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Wednesday. The police have started investigating the entire incident.
