Jalpaiguri, 5th July: A python measuring around 9 feet in length was rescued after being found trapped in a fishing net in the Patkata Gram Panchayat area near Jalpaiguri.
According to local sources, the massive reptile was spotted entangled in a fishing net inside a waterbody, triggering curiosity and drawing a large crowd to the spot.
Environmental activists rushed to the scene after being informed about the incident. Following a prolonged rescue operation, the python was safely rescued from the net.
The snake was given preliminary medical attention before being handed over to the Forest Department for further care and release into its natural habitat.
