Jalpaiguri, 12th June: Panic ensued in the Basunia neighborhood of Jalpaiguri as a 9-foot long python was discovered feasting on a duck. The incident occurred in the vicinity of Barapatia Gram Panchayat.
Eyewitnesses reported the sighting of the python devouring a duck on Wednesday, after which it retreated into a nearby village pond. Concerned locals swiftly took action, deploying a pump to lower the water level in the pond, facilitating the capture of the large reptile.
Upon securing the python, the forest department was notified. Forest officials promptly arrived at the scene, where the snake was safely handed over to their custody.
