7-day North Bengal Folk Culture and Baul festival kicks off in Gajoldoba on the occasion of Raas Mela

Rajganj, 17th November: The 7-day North Bengal Folk Culture and Baul Festival began in Gajoldoba, near Takimari, in celebration of the annual Raas Mela. The event featured artists from various regions, including different states in India and Bangladesh. Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy officially inaugurated the Baul Festival on Saturday evening.


This year marks the 26th edition of the Raas Festival at Takimari, near the Mantadari Gram Panchayat in Gajoldoba. As in previous years, the festival also features the North Bengal Folk Culture and Baul Festival, held from November 16 to November 22. The event will continue for seven days.

Artists from various districts of West Bengal, as well as Assam and Bangladesh, have come to perform at the festival. The event has attracted a large audience, with many people from Rajganj block and other parts of the district and beyond attending to experience the traditional Baul music.


In addition to MLA Khageswar Roy, notable attendees included District Council member Ranbir Majumdar, Rajganj Panchayat Samiti President Rupali Dey Sarkar, and Rajganj Trinamool Congress Block President Arindam Banerjee, among others, were present during the ceremony.
