Siliguri, 12th May: 61-year-old Shanti Singh continues to defy age barriers and shine on the sports field with her unwavering passion and determination.
Shanti Singh has been passionate about sports ever since her childhood. Over the years, she has been competing at the national and international levels with remarkable success. In 2022, Shanti Singh clinched second place in the long jump competition in Bangladesh. In 2023, she secured third place in both the long jump and 3000 km walking competition at the international athletic championship hosted by the Sri Lanka Master Association.
Looking ahead, Shanti Singh is set to grace the National Games organized by the Bengal Master Athletic Association in Ayodhya on June 2 this year. Her determination and achievements have garnered widespread admiration and support and have inspired several people. Meanwhile, the athlete hoped to pursue a coaching career in the future.
While expressing her passion for sports, Shanti Singh mentioned a hiatus in her sports career after her marriage. However, the constant support of her family members encouraged her to resume her journey. She further expressed that the strength of her mind keeps her passion ignited despite her age.
On Sunday, she was welcomed home by Dabgram-Fulbari MLA Sikha Chatterjee. Shikha Chatterjee, expressing pride in Shanti Singh’s remarkable journey, remarked that despite crossing the age of 60, she continued to be an inspiration while citing the excitement over her upcoming tournament in Ayodhya.
