6 devotees killed in tragic accident on the way to Junglee Baba Temple in Bagdogra

Bagdogra, 12th August: A devastating road accident occurred earlier on Monday, resulting in the deaths of six devotees en route to the Junglee Baba Temple in Bagdogra. The incident took place on National Highway 31, near the Muni Tea Garden area.


 

According to reports, a group of ten pilgrims from Danagachh in Phansidewa was traveling on foot to the temple for the last Monday of the Shravan month. During their journey, a four-wheeler from Bihar, heavily loaded with pilgrims, lost control and collided with the group. The vehicle, which had a Sikkim registration number, then veered off the road and plunged into a ditch. 


 

The collision resulted in the immediate death of six pilgrims while the occupants of the vehicle also sustained injuries. The injured devotees were immediately transferred to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for treatment.

 

Meanwhile, the Bagdogra police and fire department arrived at the scene shortly after the accident. Local residents initially blocked the road, but the situation was brought under control with police intervention. The police initiated an investigation into the incident.
