57th ‘Ganga Snan’ held on Ashtami at Karatoa River in Ambari

Rajganj, 05th April: The 57th edition of the traditional ‘Ganga Snan’ was organized on Ashtami at the Karatoa River in Ambari, under the management of the Ganga Sangha Club. A seven-day fair, held annually to mark the occasion, has also commenced and will continue until next Friday.


Devotees from Ambari, Rajganj, Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, and nearby areas gathered at the river since morning to take part in the ritual bathing.

Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy visited the site on Saturday to inspect the security arrangements via speed boat. He also took a holy dip in the river. Arindam Banerjee, Rupali Dey Sarkar, and Sarvani Dhar accompanied him during the visit.


Speaking on the occasion, MLA Roy stated that the Ganga Snan and fair have been held for 57 years through the initiative of Maa Ganga Sangha of Ambari. “I come here every time on their invitation. Today I bathed in the river after reviewing the security arrangements. Every year, lakhs of people attend this historic Ashtami Snan and fair,” he said.
