54 buffaloes rescued before smuggling in Phansidewa, 2 arrested

Phansidewa, 31st January: Police of Ghoshpukur Outpost in Phansidewa rescued 54 buffaloes from two containers and arrested two individuals during a naka checking on the national highway.


The arrested have been identified as Mohammad Nasir and Mohammad Monis, both residents of Uttar Pradesh.

According to reports, the buffaloes were being transported from Bihar to Assam for smuggling to Bangladesh.


During the inspection, the police seized two containers and rescued the buffaloes, as the arrested individuals failed to produce valid documents.

The accused were presented before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Friday. Meanwhile, the Ghoshpukur Outpost police have launched an investigation into the matter.
