Jalpaiguri, 12th February: The work of making a 51-foot idol of Goddess Saraswati is in progress ahead of the Saraswati Puja in Jalpaiguri.
According to reports, a huge idol of Goddess Saraswati is being constructed under the initiative of students of Jalpaiguri in Gomosta Para. The organizers claimed the idol of Goddess Saraswati to be the largest ever crafted in the entire North Bengal.
It has to be noted that there is a permanent sculpture of Goddess Saraswati in America of 16 feet. The organizers stated that it was planned to worship Goddess Saraswati by making an idol on similar lines in Jalpaiguri. Significantly, citizens are visiting to get a view of the grand idol even before the puja.
In this regard, Sculptor Binoy Pal stated that in the past he has made a 45-foot idol of Goddess Kali in the Nawa Para area and the work was highly appreciated. This time, he is sculpting a 51-foot idol at the students’ request. He added that this is the first time he is making such a huge sculpture. Further, he stated that he feels elated by doing the work.
